FAQ's

We accept designer clothes, handbags, shoes and accessories. We accept classic luxury brands such as Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Chanel, as well as items from up-and-coming designers. Please note that the final approval of an item is subject to the physical examination of the item once it has been received by the Garderobe team.

Garderobe is highly committed to ensuring that all parties have a good experience. In order to meet this commitment we are unable to accept certain items that do not meet our key criteria. This includes: 

  • Any items that are heavily worn, marked or faulty
  • Certain non-resalable clothing categories such as lingerie
  • Any brands that are not deemed to be luxury i.e. high-street brands
  • Any items that are believed to be inauthentic/counterfeit goods
Please note that we have the right to reject items after they have been received. Items are normally rejected if they are received not in the condition that was initially described or if we are not confident of its authenticity.

If this happens, you can either pick up your item from our store in on Jumeirah Road, Dubai or we will return it to you via our shipping partners at your expense. Alternatively, we would be happy to donate it to charity on your behalf.

The better the condition of the item, the more likely it is to be sold quickly (and at a higher price). We do accept goods with some signs of wear and tear or those with minor defects however all clothing must be dry-cleaned before being sent to us. Please note that we have the right to reject items after they have been received if they are not received in the manner that it was described when initially submitted.

Any article of clothing that has been previously worn must be dry-cleaned before being sent to us. If upon examination we believe that the article has not been dry-cleaned, it will be returned to you. Please note that clothing will not be accepted if it has any stains, marks, odours or faults

Garderobe’s in-house style team will price all items. A range of criteria will be considered when pricing items including, but not limited to: 

  • Retail price
  • Resale market
  • Age of item
  • Quality
  • Condition
  • Demand for the product
A provisional price will be proposed within three to four days of receipt of the ‘Sell your item’ form that you submit. This price will then be confirmed upon receiving/examining your items.

If you do not agree with the price proposed, the item will not be listed on the Garderobe Website. The item will only be listed once you have approved the price. If you disagree with the price proposed by our experts please let us know and we will attempt to revise the price accordingly. If a price cannot be agreed upon, and the item has been received by us, the item will be returned to you at your own cost.

There are two options: 

  • Please complete the Sell Now Submission form and we will arrange to pick up your items for free once they are approved
  • If you have 10 items or more, or high value items. Please contact us here and our VIP concierge team will contact you to arrange pick-up

If the buyer has a question we will do our best to answer it, however if we are unable to answer it, we will contact you

Yes, we will ship the item to the buyer or alternatively the buyer can pick up their item directly from the Garderobe store.

Each item will be listed for a period of 12 weeks. A pricing structure is put in place where by after one month if your item does not sell we will automatically reduce by 10%, after two months we will automatically reduce by 20%. If you have items that remain unsold after 12 weeks, it is your responsibility to contact us to arrange their return to you (all return shipping is at your cost of 25 AED per box for deliveries within UAE). At the end of the 12 weeks, we will have a grace period of two weeks if we do not hear from you, we will have a right to discount your items as low as we deem fit in order to sell and move the item. Otherwise, we offer clients an option to donate their items to charity

If this happens, just let us know and we will send the item back to you, however this will be at your own expense. If you request your item back before the end of the 12 week listing period, you will also be charged an administration fee of 100 AED per item.

We will do our best to ensure that your item sells however if it does not, we will offer you two options: 

  • We can return the item to you
  • We can donate the item to charity on your behalf

If your item is returned to us by the buyer, it will be re-listed on the website and in the boutique at the same price as it was listed for at the time of sale. We offer a 3 day return policy for items ordered online and a no return policy for items bought in-store.

It is completely free to list an item with us. We do however charge a commission depending on the selling price of the item. Please find our commission structure below:

  • 60% for the first 3,650 AED
  • 65% between 3,650 AED – 18,250 AED
  • 70% for 18,250 AED and above
  • 80 -85% on selected items*
For clothing there will be a 50% commission. However, on selected special pieces or brand new/current season collections your commission will be 70% We charge a commission of the above specified amounts from the final sale price. The 80-85% commission refers to items like classic Hermes, classic Chanel or other limited edition high value/rare items. If you have any questions please email us at customercare@garderobe.

When your item has been sold and paid for we will pay you for the item on the following pay out date which is the sixth of each month. (For example if your item sells May 15, 2017, you will get paid for it on the following payout date which will be Jun 6, 2017). We have a cutoff date which is the 25th of each month, if your item sells after the cutoff date, you will be paid for on the following payout date. We offer payment through bank transfer.

Each item that is listed on the Garderobe wesbite will have been through a detailed assessment by our in-house style team before it is listed. If there is any doubt about the authenticity of an item it will not be listed. We also make sure that we mention any imperfections or signs of wear on the product page of each listing.

We only list pre-loved goods (in some cases items are new and never used) that are of a high quality. Where there are imperfections, we make sure to highlight these clearly on the listing. If you require more details we will be happy to send you more photos or describe the condition to you, just give us a call or send us an email.

The size of each item will be mentioned on the listing according to the brand – depending on the brand an item is listed in US, UK, France, Italian etc. sizing. However, on every product page we have also provided a size conversion chart for your convenience.

You can either collect your item directly from the Garderobe store, or we will courier the item to you. Shipping costs will be added to your item at checkout. Please see our Shipping & Delivery page for more details.
